Lead Ambassador
Lead Ambassadors are experienced members of our commencement team who help train and guide fellow ambassadors, support event operations, and ensure every ceremony runs smoothly. It’s a chance to strengthen your leadership skills, work closely with the Ceremonies & Special Events team, and play a key role in creating unforgettable experiences for our graduates and guests.
Ambassador Lead Roles
Aggie Special Guest Section Greeter - LEAD
AGGIE SPECIAL GUEST SECTION GREETER LEAD
Location: Section 106 (near NE entrance) | Interaction: VIPs & Special Guests
- Lead for Aggie Special Guest Section Greeters who monitor Section 106 ensuring only designated guests are seated.
- Place reserved seating signs and hold seats until 15 minutes before start time.
- During the ceremony, escort VIPs to/from the arena floor with the Stage Support Team.
- Requires standing/walking!
Ambassador Check-in - LEAD
AMBASSADOR CHECK-IN LEAD
Location: Rush (Ambassador Room) | Interaction: Ambassadors
- Scan in Ambassadors - provide meal tickets.
- Requires arrival prior to ambassador check in
Check Out - LEAD
CHECK-OUT LEAD
Location: Rush (Ambassador Room) | Interaction: Ambassadors
- OCP Business Team, Check out and distribute gift cards to ambassadors
Grad Help Desk - LEAD
GRAD HELP DESK LEAD
Location: Inside (Main Floor) | Interaction: Graduates
- Lead for Grad Help Desk staff who print grad cards for students who forgot theirs or need on-site printing.
- Requires personal cell phone for DUO authentication and on-site training.
- Assist with signage/table setup and liaison for registration issues.
- Requires sitting indoors - perfect for detail-oriented helpers!
Guest Greeter (Concourse Level) - LEAD
GUEST GREETER (CONCOURSE LEVEL) LEAD
Location: Concourse Level | Interaction: Guests
- Lead for Concourse Level Greeters who assist guest
Regalia Team (Faculty) - LEAD
REGALIA (FACULTY) LEAD
Location: Assembly Room | Interaction: Campus Leaders, Faculty & Special Guests.
UC Davis Robe Required (provided)
- Lead for Regalia Team - Faculty team who greet campus faculty and assist with regalia dressing (steaming, cap pinning).
- Confirm roles and serve as liaison for changes/no-shows.
- Requires some walking indoors.
- Must enjoy helping VIPs look their ceremonial best!
The Regalia Captain/Lead will assign ceremonial tasks for each Regalia Team member once commencement begins
Aisle Marshal/Floor - LEAD
AISLE MARSHAL/FLOOR LEAD
Location: Inside (Arena Floor) | Interaction: Graduates
UC Davis Robe Required (provided)
- Lead for Aisle Marshals/Floor Greeters who welcome graduates entering the arena floor 60 minutes before the ceremony.
- Assist with cap, gown, and stole adjustments. Provide customer service and enthusiasm during wait time.
- Ensure graduates remain seated until instructed and assist with stage crossing movement!
Ambassador Room - LEAD
AMBASSADOR ROOM LEAD
Location: Rush (Ambassador Room) | Interaction: Ambassadors/Staff
- Lead for Ambassador Room Attendants who check-in/out ambassadors, distribute name tags, lanyards, and t-shirts.
- Answer questions and update commencement lead on staffing changes/no-shows.
- Collect returned supplies.
- Requires arrival prior to ambassador check in and walking/sitting indoors - be our ambassador headquarters!
Communication - LEAD
COMMUNICATION LEAD
Location: Inside | Interaction: Staff & Ambassadors
- Strat Comm staff supporting communication needs of commencement(social media, media, disruptions)
Grad Scanner - LEAD
GRAD SCANNER - LEAD
Location: Inside | Interaction: Graduates
- Lead for Grad Scanners who scan Grad Cards as graduates enter.
- Direct card issues to Grad Help Desk.
- On-site training provided.
- Requires standing indoors and attention to detail!
Guest Greeter (DOCO Plaza) - LEAD
GUEST GREETER (DOCO PLAZA) LEAD
Location: DOCO Plaza/Surrounding Streets | Interaction: Guests/Graduates
- Lead for DOCO Plaza greeters
IT Lead
IT LEAD
Location: Inside | Interaction: Staff & Ambassadors
- Deliver, Set-Up and break down computer equipment & troubleshoot database as needed
Regalia Team (Stage Party) - LEAD
REGALIA (STAGE PARTY) LEAD
Location: Assembly Room | Interaction: Campus Leaders, Faculty & Special Guests.
